While everyone's excited about the NBA Finals, Nike Basketball partnered with Aston Martin to launch the Aston Martin Edition of Kobe V which was inspired by a video showing Kobe jumping over a Aston Martin DB9. It comes with two designs based on the same DB9 Aston Martin and One-77 supercar coat designs.
Only 70 pairs were distributed in the Philippines that were reserved online by Nike customers even on a fixed size. Reservation were made at www.nike.com/kobeaston The two-pair package cost P14,995. Last June 2, 2010 at the Nike store in Bonifacio High Street, buyers fall in line eagerly waiting for 7:30 as the store opens to get their hands on the anticipated pairs.
In addition of the two-pair package, the limited edition BB10 Kobe-Aston Martin leather jacket that will also be launched this June at the cost of P17,995.
Nike was inspired to collaboration with Aston Martin in releasing a special edition pack. All seventy gone from its stock room of the flagship store located at The Fort in High Street. Collectors, fans, and sneaker heads lined up to get their hands on the much talked about shoes. Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers are headed to face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
What a fitting way to promote the shoes Kobe Bryant aka The Black Mamba had been wearing all season. Namely theZoom Kobe V, that was released late last year. There where several color variations of the shoe, but the Aston Martin Edition brought something in the ingredient to cement its popularity.
To coincide its launch Nike also came out with a special limited edition leather jacket known as BB10 Kobe Aston Martin Jacket, which is priced at Php 17,995.00 pesos. It has a pin size logo of the collaboration between Nike and Aston Martin.
The launch also features a photo booth, which will simulate what Kobe Bryant experienced when he jumped over the Aston Martin DB9 Volante.
It was a festive night while each customer where waiting for their Nike Kobe Bryant (Aston Martin Edition) footwear pack. The host of the event is running trivia questions related to basketball players who have worn Nikes.
At the end of the day even the display of the shoes where left empty. Congratulations once again to Nike for a successful launch until the next Nike pairs comes out.
