Nescafe Soundskool 2010

The biggest Battle of the Best College Bands will go MIXtreme! NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool kicks off 2010 with Summer Buzz, a concert and workshop event rolled into one. NESCAFÉ 3in1 gives college students an opportunity to have fun during summer and break into the music scene by rocking it out in front of a live audience. Ebe Dancell, lead vocalist of Sugarfree, will also mentor the participants and the audience with music writing tips.

“NESCAFÉ 3in1 believes in the talent and the potential of the youth,” says Eileen Rose Bangcoro, Marketing Promotions and Events Manager for NESCAFÉ 3in1. "When we started NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool in 2005, we wanted to create a venue to allow the youth to show exactly how much talent they have and serve as a springboard to a rewarding future in the music industry.

"On its sixth year, NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool continues to be the event to watch for promising young talent out to shape the landscape of Filipino music.”

Earlier this year, NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool began its search of the best college bands in the Philippines through the launch of the Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool Bus, a mobile recording studio. The NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Bus visited select universities to record instant entries for NESCAFE 3in1 Soundskool 2010.

Bangcoro says that the Mobile Recording Studio and currently, the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Summer Buzz, is just the first in a series of efforts to find the best college band of 2010. “This is only the first leg of Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool and college students can look forward to seeing us soon as we visit different schools nationwide in search of the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2010 winner.”

NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Summer Buzz was launched in SM Megamall last May 8, which featured 2009 Grand Winner Eevee. Likewise, amateur bands from Metro Manila and Cavite were on hand to perform a combination of covers and original compositions. Cebu City music lovers were also treated to a performance by local talents when NESCAFÉ 3in1 brought NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool to SM Cebu last May 22.

According to Bangcoro, “There are so many college bands who are hoping for that one chance to share their music with an audience. NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool extends this opportunity of a lifetime to more students so that we have more amateur bands experiencing their moment of glory on stage.”

Bangcoro adds that NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool promises to be a rich learning experience as it allows bands to understand how it feels to perform in front of a diverse audience, which she says can be quite different from performing in front of more receptive friends and schoolmates.

For the final leg of NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Summer Buzz held today in SM Mall of Asia, the audience can look forward to NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2008 winner Letter Day Story along with amateur bands, Firefly Parade, Gotoxy, Gracenote, Pop U, Rejected, Rhapzodee, Secret Arsenal, Soul Machine, Sushi Monster, and War Plan Orange. Dancell will also share secrets to successful music-writing during the workshop portion of the program.
