As graduating fashion designers of LaSalle College International-Manila (LCI-Manila), presented their collections, the local fashion industry witnessed with much enthusiasm and optimism an event that shaped the future of fashion in the country.
LCI-Manila’s 6th Graduation Fashion Show was held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center, MOA Complex, Pasay City. The show aptly titled “The Contemporary Filipiniana”, unveiled a compilation of designs inspired by our own culture and tradition, all original creations of the graduating class that have met the highest standards of accuracy, exact measurements and precise cutting patterns.
The concept behind the event was to showcase fresh fashion ideas and new twists on classic themes; exciting experimentations on texture, fabrication and youthful takes on color.
This show was a positive experience for everyone involved. The audience were treated to a fabulous fashion show, the graduating designers got a great platform to show and sell their creations, the makeup artists and stylists had an opportunity to show their talent, the models wore beautiful clothes which added to their runway experience, the sponsors reached a targeted audience that is receptive to their message, and the attending press acquired some great content for their editorials.
Fashion Design graduates included Athena Colico-Tandoc, Patricia Santos, Sonja Lehmann, Mikaela Hahn, Phuong Doan, Margarita Regala, Engie Ness Garcia, Kristine Bautista, and Noelle Miranda.
Guest speaker was Miss Valerie ”Choc” Religioso, an alumna herself of LCI-Manila Batch 2004. She said, “Putting up our atelier business CHOC AND YVETTE RELIGIOSO as well as our retail business RELIGIOSO was never a walk in the park. It took us 5 years to build the brand . What brought us where we are today is years of hard work, sheer determination of knowing that in time small dreams become big realities and most important of all, prayers.
I leave you with a verse from Coco Chanel: “Success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable”.
Direction was by Gerry Katigbak, a renowned fashion designer in the country and one of LCI-Manila’s faculty members which also include mainstream designers Edgar Mendoza and Dax Bayani, among others.
