Phases

Our country, The Philippines, is just a reflection of who we are as a person. Collectively, we are the so-called ills that put this country to its bended knees. The government is run by its people and we say in its boldest terms that it is corrupt, inefficient, unresponsive.  Here are the ways that they made up to convince that they are the solution to Fighting Corruption and Good Governance

Phase 1: Convince the people that the problems we're all struggling with are so immense. Crime. Terrorism. Corruption. Drugs. Name it -- it's all overwhelmingly huge. This is the strategy of threat inflation, and it works -- especially when people are afraid.

Phase 2: Convince the people that everything we've tried to solve those problems is failing. Ridicule all other politicians. Endlessly criticize the political system. Expose all the weaknesses and only the weaknesses continuously. Show that it's all pointless. This is the strategy of conflation -- lump all your opponents together.

Phase 3: Convince the people that all politicians are the same. That they're all corrupt, hypocritical, ineffective, whatever. All of them are part of the same system. Except him and he will stand out. This is the strategy of differentiation -- show you're unique, the only one who stands out.

Phase 4: Convince the people that the situation is desperate enough for desperate measures. And that the only solution that'll work is not Federalism. This is the strategy of desperation -- show that the only way out is to take desperate measures. The solution is a great platform and it's not something you make as you go along. Tell everyone that you are the salvation and that you bring Good Governance and with them there is change.

Classic fascist playbook. Hitler and the Nazis perfected it. Trump is showing how it works in the States. Le Pen has demonstrated its effectiveness in France and Wilders, in the Netherlands. Shall we let the Philippines fall into the hands of authoritarians like them?

We can do better. We deserve better. If you care about democracy, you should

JR NBA and JR WNBA Ends in National Training Cup in Manila

Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska search for best basketball players’ ends in National Training Camp in Manila

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska started its search for the best basketball players in the country through Regional Selection Camp that was held at Baguio City, Davao, Cebu and Don Bosco Institute in Makati.

Boys and girls who joined the search for the ten best boys and five best girls basketball players will become members of the Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA All-Star team. There was also a search for the boys and girls coaches who will handle the two teams.

The All-Star Team will travel overseas for their NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The 2015 Jr. NBA All-Stars traveled to China to watch the NBA Global Games in Shenzhen featuring the Charlotte Hornets and the L.A. Clippers.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Presented by Alaska is one of Alaska Milk’s programs that shape, train, challenge and inspire children to achieve their dreams and aspirations in life.

“These holistic programs train children to be confident, disciplined and hardworking because Alaska Milk Corporation aims to prepare them to be winners in life in the future. This year’s program includes new locations such as Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite to reach more children and coaches and discover the best basketball players across the country,” said Blen Fernando, Marketing Director.

The 2011 National Nutrition Survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) revealed that three out of ten children aged 5-10 years were underweight while eight out of one hundred children of the same age were overweight, making malnutrition and obesity two of the most pressing nutritional problems in the Philippines today.

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA presented by Alaska is under Alaska Milk’s Nutrition.Action. Champion program. It helps address the issue of overweight and undernourished Filipino children with the promotion of proper nutrition and active lifestyle through sports and outdoor play.

This year’s program started with the tip-off at in the same venue last Jan. 23. School clinics, that teach the fundamentals of basketball, ran in April with stops at Bukidnon, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa. New locations include Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite.

The top 50 boys and 24 girls from the Regional Selection Camps  advanced to the final selection stage in the National Training Camp in Manila on April 22-24.

NBA and WNBA legends Norris Cole of New Orleans Pelicans and Taj McWilliams, former Minnesota Lynx, will attend the National Training Camp to help train and inspire the finalists. The program culminated with the selection of ten Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars.

More than 36,000 players and 2,700 coaches have participated in the program since it started in the Philippines in 2007. During the 2015-16 season, the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA program will reach more than 6.5 million youth in 32 countries.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA is the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls which teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.

Alaska Power Camps advocates a healthy & active lifestyle with itssummer

Alaska advocates a healthy & active lifestyle with its summer Alaska Power Camps

According to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s 7th National Nutrition Survey in 2008, at least 16 million Filipinos aged 20 and above, and about 2 out of 10 children are overweight. Undernutrition also remains to be a public health concern affecting nearly 3 out 10 children. Also recently, there have been prevalent issues on change in children’s interests and behaviors brought by fast-changing technological environment.

With these alarming concerns, Alaska Milk Corporation is committed to help provide proper nutrition and promote an active lifestyle. Thus every summer, Alaska gathers basketball, football and volleyball enthusiasts through its Alaska Power Camps. The summer sports program inspires both girls and boys to engage in sports.  Moreover, through basketball, football and volleyball, the child does not only improve his/her talent but also acquire proper skills development and formation of the Power Camp values of discipline, determination, hard work, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Distinguished Philippine sports icons will lead the Alaska Power Camps. First, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legend and Alaska Aces assistant coach Jeffrey Cariaso will lead a team of basketball coaches.

Second, former professional football player and currently Alaska Football Power Camp Project Director and Alabang Football School, Makati Football School Director, Tomas Lozano will lead the Alaska Football Power Camp. Norris Cole and Taj McWilliams-Franklin visits Manila

Norris Cole of the New Orleans Pelicans and WNBA Champion Taj McWilliams-Franklin travelled to Manila to participate in the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2016 National Training Camp.  Cole and McWilliams-Franklin helped the coach participants from around the country vying to be named 2016 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Stars.  The National Training Camp which was held at the Don Bosco Technical Institute April 22-23 and at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on April 24.

Cole and McWilliams-Franklin joined Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Head Coach Craig Brown to coach the 2016 finalists at the National Training Camp and will also serve as coaches for the annual Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star Game featuring past Jr. NBA standouts.  This year’s program has reached a record 20,000 players and coaches across the country.

I had a chance to attend the press conference and I was able to meet them where they answered a few questions from the media.

Norris Cole looked up to Michael Jordan on videos as a kid, he played basketball LeBron James, and had the chance to play against , Kobe Bryant, in the NBA.

When asked about Michael Jordan he said that he watched a lot of Michael Jordan growing up and  he still watches a lot of MIchael Jordan. He said that  Michael Jordan is in a class of his own, That he doesn't want to  put anybody up there with him.

Cole is a first-time Manila visitor as part of the Jr. NBA Jr. WNBA Philippines 2016 National Training Camp presented by Alaska.

Cole shifted from football  to basketball  to pursue a career in professional sports.

"Basketball was the best chance for me to be a professional athlete so it was important for me to have that basketball experience from college and it was a chance for me to play Division 1 basketball with Cleveland State under Coach Gary Waters,” he told us during the press conference

What was surprising is that the 27-year old Cole is a member of the National Honor Society and was the salutatorian of his high school class at Dunbar High School where he played with former NBA player Daequan Cook.

WNBA All-Star, was selected 32nd overall in the 1999 WNBA Draft. Taj McWilliams-Franklin spent 14 seasons in the WNBA, playing for the Orlando Miracle, Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, Washington Mystics, Detroit Shock, New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx.

She is a woman after my own heart she's just like a typical mom and wife who always want to be both because she can.Taj Mcwilliams, is now coaching and imparting her skills to her students. Juggling her time with coaching and her family, shows that her passion can be on both

The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2016 presented by Alaska culminates with the National Training Camp, which provides the top 50 boys and top 24 girls with the opportunity to train with and compete against their peers.

The finalists were selected from Regional Selection Camp participants from Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Manila. At the end of the National Training Camp, 10 boys and five girls will be selected as Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA All-Stars and will travel on an overseas NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia. The program will also feature the selections of the 2016 Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Coaches of the Year, who will join the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA All-Stars on the experience trip.
The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. During the 2015-16 season, the Jr. NBA will reach more than 6.5 million youth in 33 countries.

Change is Coming

One major issue that separates Escudero and Robredo is taxes. Escudero has taken a consistent stand for tax relief and against any new tax burden for working people. Poe-Escudero has a plan for cutting down taxes. Binay also intends to implement tax exemptions. At the VP debate, Robredo boasted and promoted the sin tax which is transparently passed on and shouldered by the public. The Roxas-Robredo tandem is the only ticket vehemently opposed to tax cuts and they're proud of it.

Our National Sovereignty

National sovereignty is an utmost concern right now. In a situation where our country is facing turmoil with the insurgency problem in Mindanao particularly in Basilan where more lives of our soldiers were taken just days ago. Added to that is the WestPhilippine Sea problem that the Aquino administration has failed miserably in solving and just letting the International Court solved it for us.
In light of this national problems that the next president will inherit when he assume the highest seat in the country, this year’s election voters should think hard on who will they want to lead the country and fortify our national defense.

On another note I recently read a statement by the pro-PNP graphic asking whether the police also have rights?

The police and citizens would only be equal once the officers of the law give up their title, badge, uniform, gun and bullets.

There lies the difference. The police is not like citizens. They bear those symbols and arms supposedly on behalf of citizens. That they get hurt fighting crime is always awful and the people are not stingy of praises.

But when they violate the law by attacking and falsely charging citizens, that is transparently wrong, criminal and a gross betrayal of their oath. An abuse of the power they wield supposedly for and in behalf of citizens.

In my honest opinion, my presidential bet will fare well in this coming election as voters slowly realized that the next President should be someone who is firm, resolute and courageous in his decision.
Our country is being threatened right now with land dispute in the West Philippine Sea. We can all be nationalistic and be indignant with this problem but we need to be realistic also. China is a country we can be against at present. We will need the presence of another superpower country to go against them but we are not preparing for a war against China. Things can get settled with the right talks. We are in a millenial age right now and we will always have a say in this matter so war will not ensue.
Furthermore my Presidential bet stands on this matter is that it is for the best interest interest of our country if we will not participate in action against China and helping other country for this. We need to settle this dispite by joining exploration talks that will be good for everyone.
We need to concentrate more in the insurgency problems and dealing with the rising crimes and the criminals that gets away doing this. And my presidential bet can solve this.

Dissenting Opinions

The quickest way to end criminality is to remove material inequality and dissenting opinions.
And the quickest was to do that is to take away freedom to do better and freedom of speech.
You can do that in 3-6 months.
