Nike launched a local campaign that reinforces its commitment to Philippine basketball and furthers its goal of inspiring Filipino ballers to reach for their hoop dreams. Nike features three rising stars in the collegiate ranks of Philippine basketball in its ‘New Breed, New Game, New Legacy’ campaign, Nico Salva of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, Aldrech Ramos of the FEU Fighting Tamaraws and Borgie Hermida of the San Beda Red Lions.
Grounded in how the passion for bringing honor to their schools fuels ballers, the campaign encourages young ballers to unleash their potential for greatness during the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) seasons. In fact, the key visuals depict how players channel the strength of their respective team animals, transforming them into the new breed of players.
In a timely effort, Nike’s campaign unfolds during the height of the collegiate basketball season which drives school spirit like no other event in Philippine sports. During this time, Nike continues to strengthen its ties with top basketball programs in the country by forging a partnership with UAAP Season 72 Men’s Basketball defending champions, the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Ateneo is the newest addition to Nike’s Philippine collegiate basketball family which also includes Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws and NCAA power house San Beda Red Lions.
New gear for the new breed of champions
When Ateneo, FEU and San Beda battle it out on the court, they will be equipped with Nike’s state of the art game jerseys that boast of design and material consistent with Nike’s global reputation of basketball product innovation. Moreover, the Eagles, Tamaraws and Lions will be wearing the season’s most anticipated footwear launch, the technologically advanced Nike Zoom Hyperfuse.
The game-day jerseys incorporate a technical burn-out mesh fabric for increased ventilation and aesthetic. This helps reduce the fabric weight to help the athletes drive their game further without weighing them down.
The NikeZoom Hyperfuse is constructed with Nike’s innovative new technology that delivers a strong, breathable, and lightweight structure that promises to deliver explosive on-court performances. Its seamless unibody design helps eliminate potential hotspots and wear points in footwear. This will help Ateneo, FEU and San Beda players enhance their game and last longer on their feet during game day. The Nike Zoom Hyperfuse will be available in Nike stores beginning this month retailing at P5,995 along with a collection of the school’s apparel.
"Nike constantly goes beyond expectations to provide inspiration and innovation for Filipino ballers," said Mae Dichupa, Nike Country Marketing Manager. "Through this campaign, we not only provide athletes with performance-enhancing gear, we also challenge them to unleash their potential, play their own brand of basketball and create their own legacy with every game-changing move."
