Breastfeeding saves life, protects a baby from diseases, and provides a child the best in life. 

Breastfeeding Pinays (BFP), Department of Health (DOH), SM Cares, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with funding from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and World Vision seek to protect, promote and support breastfeeding, as well as celebrate the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month with Hakab Na! 2019. Hakab Na is an annual breastfeeding event that gathers hundreds of mothers who will latch their babies at the same time for at least a minute. 

Optimal breastfeeding has the potential to significantly reduce child mortality more than any other preventive Intervention. Saline up breastfeeding to a near‘universal level could prevent 823,000 child deaths per year globally, according to the scientific journal The Lancet. By supporting mothers to practice proper breastfeeding, nearly half of diarrhea episodes and a third of respiratory infections would be avoided. Breastfeeding has also been found to reduce the risk of childhood obesity and dlabetes in children.

Jr. NBA Philippines completes National Training Camp Roster with Metro Manila participants

Nine boys and 20 girls topped the final Regional Selection Camp of Jr. NBA Philippines 2019 presented by Alaska held April 27-28 at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, which will also serve as the venue for the National Training Camp on May 17-19. 

The young athletes, selected by Jr. NBA Coaches Rob Newson and Alaska’s Jeffrey Cariaso, Tony dela Cruz and Willie Miller, stood out from the 591 participants, exhibiting fundamental skills and core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect (S.T.A.R.) throughout the two-day event.  They will join top players from the Regional Selection Camps in North Luzon (Benguet), South Luzon (Lucena), Visayas (Dumaguete) and Mindanao (Butuan) and a select group from the Alaska Power Camp and vie to be named as 2019 Jr. NBA Philippines All-Stars comprised of five boys and five girls.

Oral contraceptives (the pill) are hormonally active pills which are usually taken by women on a daily basis. They contain either two hormones combined (progestogen and estrogen) or a single hormone (progestogen).
